IPO and beyond for tech companies with TechShare

“An IPO is a key moment for a company as you only go public once. However, it is only the beginning of the road. Once listed, the company begins a new phase in its story.”

This is how Laurent Danino, Executive Director in the Strategic Equity Capital Markets department of Natixis CIB, introduces the challenge of the training session he led on April 5 as part of the 7th edition of the TechShare program. Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking is a partner of this program, in collaboration with its partner ODDO BHF.

This pan-European program, organized by Euronext, aims to support European technology companies who are considering an initial public offering (IPO). More than 120 European companies are participating this year, including 40 French applicants, many of which are unicorns. Since its creation in 2015, TechShare has supported the expansion of more than 500 technology companies.

The training offered by Natixis CIB was based around the theme "The daily life of a public company after the IPO".  "In order to go back to the market under the right conditions, the newly listed company will have to deliver its strategy but also build confidence among the financial community during the months and years which follow the listing", underlined Laurent Danino during the session he led with research analysts, inves tors and CEOs of recently listed companies.

“The market pays particular attention to the communication from the IPO onwards”, Laurent Danino explained. "Credibility and confidence are built from start. Hence the importance of the financial guidelines. The company must announce ambitious but achievable turnover and growth targets, so as not to disappoint".

He also insisted on regular and transparent interactions with analysts and investors. "It is important to communicate regularly and to be transparent, both on good and bad news. Markets don't like to be taken by surprise."

Natixis CIB's participation in the TechShare program is part of its strong commitment to tech, a priority of its strategic plan.

"TechShare supports players in the digital, cleantech and biotech sectors who will shape the world of tomorrow," Anne-Christine Champion, co-head of Natixis CIB, said, in her introduction to the session. “Tech is a key issue that affects all economic players. It is at the heart of ESR strategies since the digital transition accompanies the environmental and societal transitions. As tech players, you are therefore at the heart of this transformation and are the actors of the transition”, she added.
